Hampta pass has its gateway through Manali. You can reach Manali by air and bus. The kullu manali airport is 50 km from manali city. And the bus stand is also in the main city on mall road. The Volvo from Delhi will take 12-14 hours to reach Manali. You can take an overnight bus and reach Manali in the afternoon. From Manali, you have to drive to Jobra, the base camp for the trek. After jobra you have to be on your feet for the further trek.
Chika
from jobra to Chika it is a 2-3 hours hike that will elevate you to approx 10000 feet. The difficulty level is easy. You will be going through forests beside the bank of river rani. And start witnessing rocky hills. You have to set the camp for the night at Chika and rest for the day.
Chika to Balu ka Ghera
Chika to Balu ka Ghera is a 6 km trek that will take 5 to 6 hours. You will start seeing the new mountain range as the dhauladhar range starts to appear. The meadows and the mountains will give you a glimpse of the further trek. Balu ka Ghera to Hampta Pass Trek
Balu ka Ghera to – hampta pass is a 7 km trek and will take at least 8 hours to cover. It will be a steep hike. While elevating at the height of 14,100 ft. You will start witnessing the landscapes of Lahaul, Spiti valley. You can experience and mesmerize so much in one region. Amateurs would love this place. - You must have hard cash before the trek starts as there is no ATM available after Manali.
- Pathankot and Chandigarh are the nearest railway station
- You can prepare yourself 1 week before the trekking starts by walking 2-3 km daily. It will help your body to accept the climate conditions of hampta pass.
- Mobile connectivity is not good after jobra, or I must say there are no signals. So you must prepare yourself before the trek by contacting your friends and colleagues.
